Training
We offer a range of Asbestos training courses to suit a variety of requirements. These include Asbestos Awareness, Managing Asbestos, Non-Licensed Asbestos Management and Bespoke Project Management.
All training courses are suitable for companies with teams who require Asbestos training. We are unable to offer training courses to individuals.
Asbestos Awareness
Target Audience: General maintenance staff; electricians; plumbers; gas fitters; painters and decorators; joiners; plasterers; demolition workers; construction workers; roofers; heating and ventilation engineers; telecommunication engineers; burglar and fire alarm installers; IT installers; shop fitters; architects, building surveyors and other such professionals
Course Details: The course runs for a half day. A maximum of 15 delegates can attend. It can be given in our training suite or in your own offices.
Syllabus:
- What is Asbestos? – The main properties of asbestos and its effects on health
- Where & What? – The types and likely occurrences of asbestos and ACMs in premises and plant
- How to Manage? – General procedures to be followed in the event of release of asbestos
- How to Avoid Risks? – Methods and procedures for avoiding risks from asbestos
Comment: CAR 2012 Compliant, UKATA Cat A.
Course Fee: £650.00 + VAT
Managing Asbestos
Target Audience: Duty Holders – those who have responsibility to manage asbestos in premises.
Course Details: This is a full day course. A maximum of 12 delegates can attend. It can be given in our training suite or in your own offices.

- Legislation – CAR 2012 & CDM 2015
- Interpreting asbestos surveys
- Asbestos management plan – what is needed
- How to disseminate information
- Asbestos remediation process
- Selection of suitable Surveyor and Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor
Comment: Preferably held at clients’ own premises so that a tour of the facility and identification of actual site problems can be included. Compliant to UKATA Cat A.
Course Fee: £1100.00 + VAT
Bespoke Project Management
Target Audience: Large construction companies
Course Details: This course focuses on Project Management. The course is variable in length and a maximum of 12 delegates can attend. It can be given in our own training suite or in your offices.
Syllabus:

- Legislation and duties: CAR 2012 / CDM 2015
- Asbestos remediation process
- Selection of suitable Surveyor and Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor
- Process documentation & essential records
Comment: Ideally held at clients’ own premises so a tour of the facility and identification of actual site problems can be included. Certification is given, but should you require UKATA certificates these will be Awareness as well as the PV Environmental Surveys ones.

Non-Licensed Asbestos Task Training
Target Audience: For the following, where a license is NOT* required: In-house maintenance staff; general maintenance staff; electricians; plumbers; gas fitters; painters and decorators; joiners; plasterers; demolition workers; construction workers; roofers; heating and ventilation engineers; telecommunication engineers; burglar and fire alarm installers; IT installers; demolition workers; shop fitters; architects, building surveyors and other such professionals
*A licence is NOT required if the control limit (0.1 f/ml) is not exceeded, or the work is ‘short duration and sporadic’ (no more than 1 hour in 7 continuous days).
Course Details: This is a one / one and a half day course. A maximum of 6 delegates can attend. The course requires in date UKATA Awareness training and is subject to Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to determine the range of tasks to be covered on the course. If delegates do not have Awareness in advance, we can deliver this as part of the course, but please be aware that this will extend the course by approximately half a day.

- What is asbestos? – The main properties of asbestos and its effects on health
- The types and likely occurrences of asbestos and ACMs in premises and plant
- PPE & RPE
- Plant & equipment
- Waste handling
- Decontamination procedures
- General procedures to be followed in the event of release of asbestos
- Non-asbestos hazards
This course has a practical aspect, which includes:
- PPE / RPE inspection and donning
- Plant and equipment used (including servicing and records)
- Controlled removal techniques
- Waste handling
- Decontamination techniques
Comment: Ideally suited to the clients’ own premises so that actual site problems can be included. CAR 2012 compliant, UKATA Cat B.
Course Fee: £1150.00 + VAT for a one day course; £1300 + VAT for 1 1/2 days
